Finally I had the chance go out and try my hand at some location portrait shooting today! Wow, talk about being out of my element. Sure I've shot weddings and family portraits before, but my true talent is with candids and action photos. There was definitely some trial and error on my part, (remember to set the white balance, d'oh) but thankfully I shot in RAW so I can correct if I need to. Although I hate making any corrections outside of minor color tweaks. Having a close friend act as my model helped tremendously. It was her first time as well, but we both caught on after a few early attempts. The simple fact that I knew her allowed me to be a bit more relaxed and got rid of some of that early nervousness I had.

I'm writing this while I'm downloading all of my cards so I haven't had much chance to browse through them yet. I will say that I was quite pleased with what I saw. With any luck I'll be able to get a few great prints out of these and maybe expand into doing more portrait work on the side. Heck, this actually has me genuinely excited, and that doesn't happen too often. Thank you Jeanie!!!
